Agriculture

According to The World Health Organization, agriculture is responsible for almost half of Sierra Leone’s gross domestic product and provides jobs for over half of the country’s citizens. As a large economic commodity, the necessity for agriculture infrastructure continues to grow. At PADI, we are currently developing many methods to better the agricultural sector of Sierra Leone. By focusing on the economics of crop yield distribution and maximizing the soil ecosystem, the bountiful and natural resources Sierra Leone has to offer can come into fruition. We’re focusing on the financial maintenance of this self-sustaining system for food production by applying for grants and other loan services.

Much funding is poured into agriculture to reduce poverty and establish supply chains for accessible facilities that improve research including mineral and water resources, fertilizers, pesticides, and seed varieties. Improving rural infrastructure will encourage trade and crop growth which can increase food security. The development of agriculture will further Sierra Leone’s development index, life expectancy, education and income.
